same regardless of direction, for instance what Adam said to Eve "Madam
I'm Adam". The DNA sequence of type II restriction endonuclease recognition
sites (eg EcoRI 5'GAATTC3') and the binding sites of many other DNA
binding proteins (eg. catabolite activator protein (CAP) binding site
5'GTGAGTTAGCTCAC3') are not true palindromes but in double stranded
form are similar and have two-fold rotational symetry. |
