Projects :: Functions of Na/K ATPases in junction formation and tube-size control

We have shown that only specific isoforms of the Na/K ATPase can mediate tube-size control and junction formation. Our preliminary results suggest these are novel functions of the Nrv2 ß-subunit that do not depend on the canonical ion-transport function of the Na/K ATPase. We are working to biochemically and cell biologically understand this ion-transport independent activity.
