Richard Carthew and his merry band use the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster to study problems in Cell and Developmental Biology at Northwestern University. We study the nature of small RNAs (miRNAs and siRNAs) and how they silence gene expression by RNAi. We also study issues of cellular differentiation and cell form.

In addition to our lab academic home, we are members of the Robert Lurie Cancer Center and we participate in two indepartmental graduate programs: NUIN and IBiS.
