{Summary}
|
- Rab proteins in general are master regulators of vesicle trafficking.
Acting as scaffolds they coordinate the budding of vesicles form one
cellular compartment, their transport, and their docking and fusion
with the target compartments
|
- Opb acts downstream of Shh (Eggenschwiler 2001)
|
- mRNA expression pattern was similar to Gli3 (Eggenschwiler 2001),
another negative regulator of the Shh signalling pathway.
|
- Mutations have defects that are characteristic of overactive Shh signalling
for example, suppression of dorsal and overproduction of ventral
neuronal precursors.
- Shh/opb double mutants look like opb single mutant (Eggenschwiler
2001)
- Homozygous mutants die during the second half of gestation, with an
open neural tube in the head and spinal cord, abnormal somites, polydactyly,
and poorly developed eyes (Eggenschwiler 2001) These phenotypes
resemble those produced by partial loss of function of Ptc
